Renewing your registration
Generally, you need to apply to renew your tax agent, BAS agent or tax (financial) adviser registration at least 30 days before it expires if you wish to continue providing these services legally.
If you fail to renew your registration on time you will:
- no longer be able to legally provide tax agent, BAS or tax (financial) advice services for a fee or other reward
- lose access to the Australian Taxation Office (ATO) Tax Agent or BAS Agent Portal
- need to lodge a new application and you cannot provide tax agent, BAS or tax (financial) advice services for a fee or other reward until the new application is decided
- need to make alternate arrangements to manage your clients’ affairs.
