Be part of the conversation as we are joined by the National Disability Insurance Agency to spotlight the work of the Fraud Fusion Taskforce (FFT). The FFT is a cross-agency initiative committed to protecting government funding and promoting integrity across Commonwealth programs. This session will explore how the FFT is disrupting fraud and serious organised crime through coordinated investigations, data sharing, and compliance enforcement. Attendees will gain insights into recent case studies, including actions taken against tax practitioners who facilitated fraudulent claims against the National Disability Insurance Scheme.

Fraud fusion in action – strengthening integrity across government

Questions and answers

We have compiled some of the questions we received during our webinar.

The FFT brings together multiple government agencies, led by the National Disability Insurance Agency (NDIA) and Services Australia, to deliver a whole-of-government capability to detect and respond to potential fraudulent and criminal activity against the National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS), ensuring greater integrity and fairness across Commonwealth programs and payments.

Taskforce members share information and collaborate to uncover, investigate and prevent fraud, so NDIS participants can continue to receive safe, high-quality support.

Learn more about the taskforce by visiting the NDIS website.

The FFT comprises 23 government agencies, including:

  • Australian Federal Police
  • Australian Criminal Intelligence Commission
  • NDIS Quality and Safeguards Commission
  • Australian Taxation Office
  • Tax Practitioners Board.

We collaborate with other agencies to share and analyse information, using data to identify suspicious patterns that may identify fraudulent behaviour. We also work with Taskforce partners to strengthen integrity and prevent fraud. This includes enhancing fraud detection and prevention measures and taking action against any tax practitioner involved in facilitating fraud.

If you suspect someone is committing fraud, please report it using the NDIS Fraud Reporting Form.

In addition, if you are aware of a tax practitioner engaging in poor conduct or fraud, you can help strengthen tax practitioner services and build community confidence in the system by making a complaint using our online form.

If you report misconduct by a registered tax practitioner, you may be eligible for tax whistleblower protections, depending on your relationship with the tax practitioner. If you’re an eligible whistleblower, you will receive legal protection for your disclosure and your identity will remain confidential, except where disclosure is required by law or you consent.

We may contact you for more information about the breach being reported. Due to privacy and secrecy laws, we are limited in what we can disclose to you about actions taken, but we will provide updates where possible or required by law. Refer to the Whistleblower legislation for more information on protections and who qualifies as ‘eligible whistleblower’.
