Sitewide Alert
My Profile (including our Online forms) will be unavailable from 9:00am (AEDT) on 21 February 2026 until 9:00am (AEDT) on 23 February 2026. During this period, you will not be able to update registration details or submit a new or renewal application, lodge complaints, or complete qualifications self-assessments. We apologise for any inconvenience and thank you for your understanding.

Digital ID is a secure, convenient and voluntary way to verify and reuse your identification (ID) online.

myID is the Australian Government's Digital ID provider, delivered and managed by the Australian Taxation Office (ATO). More Digital ID providers may become available as the Australian Government Digital ID system expands.

We’re making it easier and safer for you to maintain your registration and meet your obligations. One of the ways we’re doing this is by introducing Digital ID. This way, you’ll be able to use a single credential to access both the Tax Practitioners Board (TPB) system and ATO services, including Online services for agents. Using your Digital ID, you’ll be able to sign into the TPB portal (My Profile) to manage your individual, company or partnership registration, eliminating the need for multiple usernames and passwords.

Digital ID is designed to protect your privacy and give you control over your information. You decide when and where your details are shared. For further information, refer to privacy and security.

To set up Digital ID, you’ll need to provide the details of your ID documents to a Digital ID provider. The details are then verified digitally with the agency who issued the document. For further information, refer to create your Digital ID.

You only need to set up Digital ID once on your device. You can then use your Digital ID as a secure and convenient way to verify and prove your identity when using government and other services. If you want to use a new device, you’ll need to re-verify your identity on the new device for security.

Your Digital ID has 3 identity strengths - basic, standard or strong. To access My Profile, you’ll need a standard or strong identity strength. If your identity strength is basic, you’ll need to upgrade it to standard or strong through your Digital ID provider. We can’t upgrade your identity strength. Common identity documents used to achieve a higher identity strength include a birth certificate, driver licence, passport or Medicare card.

Yes, your Digital ID can be used on more than one device. However, you’ll need to verify your identity on each device.

No, you can’t share your Digital ID with another person because each Digital ID is verified using the owner’s ID documents, such as a driver licence or birth certificate.

If you are acting on behalf of an organisation such as a company or partnership, your access is managed through Relationship Authorisation Manager (RAM). You must be authorised in RAM to act on behalf of that organisation. Once authorised, you can use your own Digital ID to access the organisation’s registration. If you are acting on behalf of another person’s individual registration, you will not be able to access their registration because each person has their own Digital ID which can only be used to access their own registration.

To log into your company or partnership registration, use the login option for organisations. During the login process, select the ABN of the company or partnership you want to act for in RAM. Once selected, the organisation should be available for you to access and manage in My Profile.

When using Digital ID to log into My Profile, you can only act for one organisation registration at a time. The registration you are able to access and manage in My Profile is based on the Australian Business Number (ABN) you selected in RAM during the login process. If you can select the ABN in RAM but can’t see the registration in My Profile, submit a 'Missing Registration' request (available within My Profile) and we will investigate the issue. If you can’t select the ABN in RAM, contact your RAM or Access Manager administrator.

This can occur when another authorised user signs into the same registration after you. Only one user can actively manage a registration at a time, so you will lose access to the registration if someone else signs in. To resolve this, return to the ‘My Registrations’ page and click ‘Manage’ next to the registration to regain access, and consider coordinating logins with other authorised users. If you don’t recognise this activity or believe your account may have been compromised, contact us immediately.

For organisation registrations, contact your RAM or Access Manager administrator to update who can act for the organisation. For individual registrations, only you can access your own registration(s).

We would encourage you to use Digital ID to access My Profile. If you are registered as an individual tax practitioner, you will still be able to log in using your username and password for My Profile and don’t need to use Digital ID. However, if you have a partnership or company registration, you will need to use Digital ID once the transitional period ends. The transitional period is expected to run until 30 June 2027.

Make sure that your details on our system match those of Digital ID, including:

  • full legal name
  • date of birth
  • ABN.

No, we won’t access or store your identity documents. With your consent, your Digital ID provider will only share information that we need to link your Digital ID to your registration(s), such as your full name, date of birth, or the ABN of the organisation you are acting for.

No, if you sign in using Digital ID, you have already verified your identity so you won’t have to complete a separate proof of identity check when you submit a new or renewal application.

No, we will never ask you for your Digital ID login code. To ensure you are on the correct login page, go to tpb.gov.au/myprofile or click on My Profile at tpb.gov.au.

If you believe your identity or Digital ID may have been compromised, contact your Digital ID provider for help and follow their guidance on securing your account.

If you lose access to your device, contact your Digital ID provider and follow their recovery or support options provided. We can’t manage or restore access to your Digital ID on your behalf.
