Thank you for navigating a challenging year

As we approach the end of another year, we recognise that the registered tax practitioner community have all worked hard to support their clients through an exceptionally challenging year. This year everyone’s life has been impacted in some way – by drought, fire, flood or pandemic. We have all been tested and we are pleased to reflect on the considerable progress made by tax practitioners, while dealing with the impacts to your own life and business.

Our communities needed reliable, trustworthy and supportive tax practitioners more than ever before. You rose to the occasion and took on numerous challenges – helping individuals and businesses of all sizes to ask for and access support. The way you adapted to change in such a short period of time, under extremely stressful circumstances is a credit to you and the tax profession.

Even in these trying times, the vast majority of tax practitioners acted lawfully and professionally. Currently, 74% of individual Australians, and 97% of businesses, engage a tax practitioner to help them with their taxes. In responses to our recent survey, 88% of consumers have reported a high level of trust in their tax practitioners and 66% have rated their practitioner experience as ‘excellent’.

As we move into the new year, we encourage you to keep up the good work.

From all of us at the the Tax Practitioners Board (TPB) we wish you a safe and enjoyable break. We look forward to continuing our work with you in the new year and thank you for your dedication to your clients and for your support of the tax profession and the integrity of the tax and super systems. We hope 2021 is a brighter year for all.
