Tax Practitioners Board announces new Secretary
The Chair of the Tax Practitioners Board, Dale Boucher, today announced that Mark Maskell has been appointed as the new Secretary of the Board, commencing 12 April 2010.
Geoff Robinson is taking up a new lead role in Information and Communications Technology within the ATO.
Mr Boucher said ‘I would like to thank Geoff and his staff for all of the good preparatory work done over the last 10 months in introducing the new law and its requirements. I wish him all the best in his new role.’
Mr Maskell joins the support team for the Board as Secretary. Mr Maskell is currently an Assistant Commissioner in the ATO’s Business Solutions business line.
Mr Boucher said ‘I am pleased to welcome Mark as the new Secretary of the Board. The Board looks forward to working closely with Mark to ensure the ongoing smooth operation of the Board and to bring tax and BAS agents under a single registration and regulatory framework for the benefit of the Australian public.’
Mr Maskell has over 25 years experience working in and for the Federal Government. He joined the ATO in February 2009 where he lead the administrative and system design for the ATO's systems, particularly in relation to new Government measures, and sponsored the ATO's community engagement with software developer industry.
Prior to joining the ATO, Mr Maskell spent five years with Oakton Consulting where he was involved in leading their Assurance and Information Management practices. He has also held senior roles in the Australian Customs Service, CSC Australia, Department of Veterans' Affairs and the Department of Finance and Deregulation. Throughout his career Mr Maskell has had a strong involvement in the delivery of financial services and systems.
