New Chair and Board start
The new Chair of the Tax Practitioners Board (TPB), Mr Ian Taylor and Board members officially start today.
Mr Taylor was appointed as the part-time Chair and member of the TPB with Mr Peter Whitford, Ms Maria Benardis and Ms Caroline Clarke appointed as part time members of the Board.
Professor Cynthia Coleman, Ms Yvonne Sneddon, Mr Matthew Addison, Mr Roger Cotton and Mr Russell Smith have all been reappointed as part-time members of the Board.
Mr Taylor expressed his appreciation for the inaugural Chair, Dale Boucher and the achievements of the previous Board.
"Dale and the members of the inaugural Board have been instrumental in implementing a number of significant policies and administering legislation. I would like to thank them for their commitment to the TPB. I am looking forward to working with the new Board, TPB staff and continuing with the important work of the TPB." Mr Taylor said.
Mr Taylor will be consulting with associations as one his first tasks as the new Chair. Over the next few weeks Mr Taylor will be inviting the CEO’s and heads of associations to meet to hear about how the associations currently work together with the TPB, and to listen to any ideas they may have to assist the Board to support the TPB regulate tax practitioners.
Mr Taylor worked with KPMG in Melbourne from 1985 to 2006 as a tax partner before retiring and establishing his own tax practice. He was a Senior Lecturer in taxation, financial management and accounting at Swinburne University in Melbourne for 13 years and has also served on school and community organisations and committees. He has a Bachelor of Economics degree, a Master of Business Administration and a Diploma of Education. He is a fellow of CPA Australia and served as Chair and member of their disciplinary committee. He is also a Fellow of the Institute of Chartered Accountants in Australia and served as Chair and member of their tax education committee. Mr Taylor is also a registered tax agent.
